125 Years of the Car, Day 1

In preparation for 125 years of the car in 2011, the German tourist board invited 5 people to southern Germany for the 'Birthplace of the car'. Landing in Stuttgart, we checked in to the V8 Hotel in Meilenwerk, enjoyed some traditional cuisine, visited the Mercedes Museum and took part in a classic car evening, piloting a 1968 Porsche 911.

Day 2 - Porsche, Audi, Hornburg

Travelling around in a rather fancy Spillmann, the second day included a guided tour of the Porsche Museum, visit to the Audi forum, a factory tour of the hand built Audi R8, check in to Hornburg Castle and a wine tour.

Days 3 and 4 - AutoTechnic, Hockenheim, Heidelberg etc

The final days included a visit to the Auto-Technic museum, Hockenheim race track, check in to Europaischer Hof hotel and visit Heidelberg (Germany's version of Oxford). Excursion to Dr Karl Benz Museum, Mannheim and Technoseum.

Centenary Festival, Brooklands 2007

100 years of Brooklands hosted by Mercedes-Benz World, brand experience centre. A mix of old and new including the fabulous Blitzen Benz, Napier-Railton, Babs or Higham Special, SLR 722, Mclaren F1 cars and more.

Gumball 3000, Pall Mall 2007

High profile, trans-continent rally commencing at Pall Mall, London. Although the event attracted more spectators than ever before, the frenzy of excitement and adrenaline was too much for some. A prestigious event cancelled early due to fatalities - who knows what's to say about the future of Gumball 3000 but we hope it's not the end.
